The 4th and 5th grade students have been diligently working on personal narratives in the Writing Lab. We began by brainstorming possible topics that we could write about. After choosing our topic, we narrowed it down so that we could focus on re-telling a small moment. The students wrote drafts of their narratives and we have been learning different skills to make our writing better. We have had lessons on word choice, sensory details, transition words, and dialogue. The students are doing a great job going back and finding places to add these skills to their writing. Next week, we hope to finish revising, editing, and publishing our personal narratives. I am so excited to see the students' published pieces!
